General Jokić with General Messenger: UK Armed Forces will support the continuation of the reforms of the MNEAF

Chief of Defence of the Armed Forces of Montenegro, Lieutenant General Ljubiša Jokić welcomed today the General Gordon Messenger, Deputy Chief of Defence of the Armed Forces of UK who is on two - day official visit to the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of Montenegro. 

General Jokić expressed gratitude for the support that the AF of UK provides to Montenegro on the accession processes into NATO and defence sector reforms.  He informed the General Messenger about the current stages in transformation and reforms of the Armed Forces and defence sector as well as about the plans and projects in the upcoming period in order that AF gives full contribution to the Alliance after gaining the status of full-fledged member.

 Interlocutors talked about the current models of cooperation and manners for its further improvement in the light of Montenegro’s accession into NATO.

General Messenger expressed satisfaction with the cooperation of the two countries in the field of defence adding that Montenegro has made a remarkable progress in developing the interoperability and capabilities.  He pointed out the readiness of the Armed Forces of United Kingdom to support the continuation of the reforms process of the Armed Forces.

Interlocutors has agreed that the partnership and the exchange of experiences and information in the field of defence is the most adequate approach in preparing the armed forces to respond on contemporary security challenges.

General Messenger and General Jokić have signed the Plan of bilateral cooperation in the field of defence which will include numerous common activities.
