Admiral Dragan Samardžić met with the Brigadier General Douglas Farnham
Chief of Defence of the Armed Forces of Montenegro, Admiral Dragan Samardzić met today with the Commander of the National Guard of the state of Maine, Brigadier General Douglas Farnham, who is on the official visit in Montenegro within the celebration of ten year from the signing of the State Partnership Program – SPP. The meeting attended also the General Percy G. Hurtado II, Deputy Chief of the Department for Planning and Strategy in the EUCOM.
Interlocutors talked about the current model of cooperation and discussed also the possibilities of its further improvement in the light of accession of Montenegro into NATO.
Admiral Samardžić expressed gratitude to the Maine National Guard on constant support in the transformation and reform process of the Armed Forces.
Brigadier General Farnham expressed satisfaction for the cooperation until now with the Armed Forces of Montenegro and pointed out the importance of conduction the common activities in the frame of SPP for further strengthening of the partnership. He said that the Armed Forces of Montenegro have achieved extraordinary progress in developing the interoperability and capability and stressed the readiness of the Main National Guard to support the continuation of the reform process of the Armed Forces.
The cooperation with Main National guard is carried out in several fields: providing support and assistance to the Armed Forces in implementation of the Partnership Goals, improving the readiness of the Armed Forces for participation in international missions as well as improving the capabilities to respond on emergency situations.
As a part of celebration of ten years from signing the State Partnership Program, tomorrow in the barracks “Milovan Šaranović” in Danilovgrad will be held the ceremony in which will be handed over the recognitions and letters of thanks for the realisation of numerous projects within the Program.
