Web portal of Government of Montenegro was under hacking attacks

Podgorica, Montenegro (15 February 2017) -- Web portals of the Government of Montenegro (www.gov.me) and a number of state authorities were today between 11:15 and 13:25 under severe DDoS attacks.

In order to fight the attacks, competent authorities shut down certain Internet services, including the access to the web portals of the Government and certain state authorities and that is why some web portals were unavailable to the public.

During the attacks, content of the web portals was not compromised.

Web portal of the Government of Montenegro was under this kind of hacking attacks on 16 October 2016, when it was also shut down for a period of time. The attacks were repeated over the next few days.

A DDOS attack is an attempt at making the web server inaccessible to its users, disabling the network, computer, or another part of the infrastructure in such a way as to render them dysfunctional.
