Munich: PM Marković meets with his Turkish counterpart Yildirim – Montenegro and Turkey to boost economic cooperation

Munich, Germany (19 February 2017) – Montenegro and Turkey cherish good bilateral relations which could be strengthened by improving the economic cooperation in industry and energy sector, the meeting between Prime Minister Marković and his Turkish counterpart Binali Yildirim emphasised.
The two officials met at the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference to discuss investments of Turkish companies in Montenegro, with a particular emphasis on establishing the business cooperation between company “Toščelik Nikšić” and defence industry in Turkey. The aim is to sign an agreement on cooperation in order to create preconditions for delivering special steals to the Turkish industry and attract new investments, PM Marković explained.
PM Marković thanked Mr Yildirim for Turkey’s continuing support implemented throughout cooperation with TIKA, adding that numerous Turkish companies have already developed doing business in Montenegro.
Regarding Montenegro’s Euro-Atlantic accession process, Turkish PM Yildirim said that Turkey strongly supports Montenegro’s path towards NATO, adding that the country’s membership in the Alliance is important not only for Montenegro, but for peace and prosperity of the entire region. Montenegro and Turkey will continue cherishing ties and cooperation within the NATO framework, PM Yildirim pointed out.
