The Minister of education Damir Šehović handed uniforms to pupils of the Primary School "Savo Pejanović"

Pupils of the Primary School "Savo Pejanović" from today will wear uniforms, which will "contribute to the promotion of the values of equality, social justice, solidarity and unity among children", said the Minister of Education dr Damir Šehović during today's delivery of uniforms to pupils of this school.

Minister Šehović stressed that the goal of the Ministry of Education is to make knowledge more accessible to all on equal terms, and that it is focused on the affirmation of a new policy that will create an environment of access to knowledge, regardless of social status.
The delivery of uniforms to the Primary School "Savo Pejanović" is a pilot project for which the Ministry provided about 3,000 pieces of uniform. In this context Minister Šehović stated: "This is a project through which we want to open a public debate on the introduction of uniforms in the education system in Montenegro as in some developed countries, as well as to test the public need for the introduction of uniforms in other schools."

The Minister also expressed his belief that the introduction of uniforms in the system of education can promote real values on which the educational system of Montenegro should rely.

Besides Minister Šehović, the School principal Darinka Adžić addressed the public. She recalled that the Primary School "Savo Pejanović" is one of the oldest educational institutions in Podgorica, which counts 592 pupils, distributed in 25 departments and 52 employees.
"We are pleased and we thank the Ministry of Education for choosing our school for this pilot project, and that it has set aside significant funds for the purchase of student uniforms. All of 592 pupils will receive two shirts with short sleeves and two shirt with long sleeves and a sweatshirt. These are polo shirts, for boys in navy blue and white color, and for girls in pink and white colors, and the sweatshirts are grey "said the Principal Adžić.

She expressed the belief that student uniforms contribute to equality among pupils, increase the sense of belonging to the school and are a sign of recognition, and as one of the benefits of their introduction in schools she recognizes the fact that parents will no longer have to worry what their child will wear before going to school.

The Principal Adžić expressed the hope that the introduction of student uniforms will take place in other schools as well.
