Budapest: Prime Minister Duško Marković meets with President of Hungary Janos Ader

The meeting, which was held during the official visit of Prime Minister Marković to Hungary, emphasised the deterioration of the situation and increased tensions in the Balkans due to the strengthening of nationalist political forces that want to jeopardize the region's European perspective.
The best answer to this is, in the words of the Prime Minister of Montenegro, the active enlargement policy of both the EU and NATO and promotion of dialogue, so that the countries in the region can recognise their interest in integration processes. It was also emphasised that European funds need to be more available in order to strengthen the economies of the countries of the region and valorise resources.
Informing President Ader about Montenegro's progress in EU accession, namely about the opening of 26 negotiating chapters and the country's willingness to open new chapters, but also to close of some of them, the Prime Minister said that the problems the EU is currently facing will not discourage Montenegro, and that it remains committed to fulfilling its obligations under the European agenda. The European Union, he noted, is the best framework for Montenegro and its interests.
Noting that the process of ratification of the Protocol on the Accession of Montenegro to NATO is in its final stage, the Prime Minister is hopeful that the entire process will be completed by May, so that Montenegro can take part in the Summit of the Alliance as a full-fledged member.
President Ader pledged full support to Montenegro's efforts to integrate into European and Euro-Atlantic structures and noted that he can even now congratulate Montenegro on membership in the Alliance, as it is obvious and indisputable.
Speaking in the context of excellent bilateral relations between Montenegro and Hungary, Prime Minister Marković underlined the contribution of the Hungarian companies to GDP growth, and expressed expectation for even stronger presence of the Hungarian investors in Montenegro.
