PM Marković satisfied with his visit to Monaco: Cooperation to enable better use of our resources

Monaco, Principality of Monaco (9 March 2017) -- Montenegro will strive, through intensive cooperation with the Principality of Monaco, to accelerate economic development, but also preserve the environment, Prime Minister of Montenegro Duško Marković pointed up during his visit to Monaco, where he met with Prince Albert II, Minister of State Serge Telle and representatives of the Association of Honorary Consuls.
Thanking Prince Albert II for the assistance that his foundation has provided to environmental protection and conservation projects in Montenegro, Prime Minister Markovć voiced his Government's commitment to finding a balance between the valorisation of natural resources with a view to increasing economic activity, on the one hand, and environmental protection, on the other hand.
Prince Albert conveyed to Prime Minister Marković his personal, but also the willingness of the Government of Monaco, to develop cooperation with Montenegro in the fields of tourism, agriculture and energy as well.
PM Marković informed Prime Minister Serge Telle about concrete investment projects in which investors from Monaco have shown interest. The two officials also discussed concrete forms of cooperation between the two governments. They exchanged views on the initiative to hold a mini-summit of heads of government of so-called small countries.
It was agreed that the two governments need to work towards realising the idea.
Prime Minister Duško Marković met earlier today with Prince Albert II of Monaco and Minister of State of the Principality of Monaco Serge Telle.
At the end of his working visit to Monaco, Prime Minister of Montenegro Duško Marković said that Montenegro and Monaco share civilisation and European values and that, as small Mediterranean countries, they need to cooperate even closer, so that Montenegro can use its resources and potentials.
"Key topics of today's meetings and tomorrow's forum of the two business delegations is how best to make use of our country's natural resources and potentials in order to continue increasing the quality of life of our citizens. Montenegro has major resources in the fields of tourism, energy and agriculture and needs to advance and develop its infrastructure. By cooperating with the officials of Monaco and sharing experiences with business people of Monaco, we realised that we have to do in Montenegro in order to achieve this level of development or aspire to it," said Prime Minister Duško Marković.
The Prime Minister said that today's meetings discussed the close cooperation in a number of areas and the need to balance potentials, adding that his initiative to hold meetings of small government countries was accepted.
Minister of State of Monaco Serge Telle said that he was satisfied with the meeting with the Prime Minister of Montenegro and that Monaco can serve as an example to Montenegro, as a small country that has high-quality public services, good health and education systems and high-quality fiscal policy, and that it can transfer that its knowledge to Montenegro. He believes that Monaco will be able to learn something from Montenegro, especially from the country's experience over the past ten years since it renewed its independence.
Prime Minister Marković also met in Monaco with Moustapha el Solh, President of the Association of Honorary Consuls, which brings together more than a hundred honorary consuls.
