Minister Pribilović discusses in Brussels Chapter 10 - Information society and media

Brussels, Belgium (14 March 2017) -- Minister of Public Administration Suzana Pribilović met earlier today in Brussels with Roberto Viola, Director General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology, for talks on Chapter 10 - Information Society and Media, which is expected to be closed by the end of 2017, and the progress made in the development of information society in Montenegro.

Director General Viola welcomed the progress Montenegro has made in Chapter 10, where the activities have been intensified when it comes to the implementation of special measures, through the adoption and amending of the relevant legislation, in compliance with the final criteria, as well as in terms of administrative capacity building.

Minister Pribilović pointed up the significance of implementing activities towards the fulfilment of the benchmarks for closing Chapter 10. Speaking about the ICT development in Montenegro, she noted that the Information Society Development Strategy until 2020 defines the strategic directions of development in this area with a view to reaching EU standards set out in the Digital Agenda 2020 and the Digital Single Market Strategy, whereas the information society legislation in Montenegro is significantly harmonised with that of the EU. She concluding by saying that, according to the latest World Economic Forum's report on global competitiveness in the field of ICT, Montenegro is a regional leader, especially in terms of e-governance.
