PM Marković hosts representatives of Chinese CCECC

Podgorica, Montenegro (27 March 2017) – Prime Minister Duško Marković met today with delegation of the Chinese company CCECC (China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation), which carried out work on the reconstruction of part of the Bar-Belgrade railway (Kolašin-Kos section).

PM Marković thanked the CEO of CCECC and his colleagues on the good and duly performed work on the reconstruction of the 9.7 km of rail tracks and announced that the activities on the reconstruction of the Montenegrin railway will be resumed soon. For this purpose, 20 million EUR of credit support have been allocated from the European funds, as well as 20 million EUR grant thanks to guarantees from the European Commission, which creates the conditions for a dynamic continuation of works on the reconstruction of the railway.

Representatives of the Chinese company, which specialises in works on rail tracks and operates in 76 countries, expressed interest in participating in the tender for future activities on the reconstruction of the railway. They also stressed the willingness to consider with the Ministry of Transport other investment opportunities in this field, emphasising the significant potential of the Port of Bar, as well to provide professional and expert cooperation in order to assist in improving performance of the Railway infrastructure of Montenegro.

The Prime Minister said that the overall cooperation between Montenegro and China is on an upward trajectory and that the presence of a significant number of Chinese companies in Montenegro makes an important contribution to this cooperation.
