EU Rule of Law Expert Mission in Montenegro
Podgorica, Montenegro (31 March 2017) – Expert Mission in the Ministry for Human and Minority Rights will stay in Montenegro from 3 to 7 April 2017.
Expert from Italy will hold a number of meetings with the representatives of the Ministry for Human and Minority Rights, Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare, Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism, Ministry of Education, Fund for the protection and realisation of minority rights, Centre for Preservation and Development of Culture Minorities, national minority councils.
The meetings will provide the direct exchange of information of the Montenegrin institutions representatives with experts on specific issues in these areas. The visit of experts is an opportunity for Montenegrin institutions to show the European Union and the Member States the progress in this area, both through the harmonisation of national legislation with the EU Acquis, and in the part of their implementation. The exchange of opinions and experts' recommendations will serve Montenegrin authorities to achieve better results in the rule of law.
The visits of expert missions are part of a new approach in the negotiations with the EU and are a regular mechanism by which the European Commission assesses the state in Chapter 23: Judiciary and Fundamental Rights and Chapter 24: Justice, freedom and security.
