Podgorica, Montenegro (7 April 2017) – Following the 20th Cabinet’s session, Minister of Transport and Maritime Affairs Osman Nurković gave a statement regarding the construction of the Verige bridge over Boka Kotorska Bay.

Minister Nurković said that the Government discussed and adopted the Montenegrin rail operator Montecargo’s initiative, which proposes the initiation of the activities for starting construction of the bridge. Montecargo has completed the whole project documentation and the environment impact assessment and feasibility study have been completed, Minister Nurković added.

Government also decided to establish an expert commission, which will be in charge of finding the best financial model for implementing the project, he explained. Having in mind that this project cannot be completely funded by the Montenegrin budget, the Government will consider financial support by foreign investors, Minister Nurković stressed.

In line with EU directives and the national legal framework, the companies interested in providing funds for the implementation of the project will have the opportunity to apply throughout the public procurement procedure, the Transport Minister pointed out.
