Herceg Novi, Montenegro (8 April 2017) – During his visit to the the construction site of the Portonovi tourist resort in Kumbor in the Bay of Kotor, Prime Minister Duško Marković said that the works will be completed in a timely manner and that Montenegro will get a resort which will make it recognisable on the world tourism map.

"This will be a project that will bring benefits to the development of a new Montenegro. It will not only encourage our potential in terms of construction and investment, but also in terms of reflecting and creating. It will encourage our responsibility towards good management of our resources," the Prime Minister told the press following his visit to the construction site in Kumbor.

He thanked his hosts for the invitation to visit the site, emphasising that Portonovi has a serious and responsible investor.

"This is a type of investor we want to have here, an investor that respects Montenegro and its contractual obligations, and has developed good and open cooperation with the Government and the people of this area. Social responsibility of the company can set an example to many others who come to Montenegro," Prime Minister Marković underscored.

Referring to the Portonovi project, the Prime Minister noted that it can be seen that the settlement emerges and that the construction of the marina is to be completed soon.

"We gathered here to define our next steps, so that all of us in Montenegro can get such a tourist resort that will not only ennoble Montenegro, but also make it permanently different from what it is at the moment," said Prime Minister Duško Marković.

This tourist resort’s construction site, the largest one in Europe, employs nearly 700 workers.

Azerbaijani company Azmont Investments has been constructing the luxury tourist complex with a marina. The biggest hotel will be operated by prestigious One&Only Resorts.

Government of Montenegro signed a long-term lease agreement of the former military site “Orjen Battalion” in Kumbor with Azerbaijan’s State Oil Company (Azmont Investments is a Montenegrin subsidiary of SOCAR) in 2012, which implied a total investment of more than EUR 258 million.
