Ljubljana: Protocol of third session defining mechanisms for cooperation between Montenegro and Slovenia signed

PR ServiceLjubljana, Slovenia (11 April 2017) -- Montenegrin delegation, headed by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Milutin Simović, paid on 10 – 11 April an official visit to Slovenia, where the third session of the Montenegrin - Slovenian Joint Commission for Economic Cooperation took place.

The session exchanged experience and information between partner institutions and defined concrete mechanisms for cooperation in the areas recognised as mutually beneficial, namely trade, agriculture, transport, energy, tourism, information technology, health and others.

Besides representatives of ministries and other institutions relevant for the development and promotion of bilateral economic cooperation, the session of the commission was also attended by business people from trade and IT sectors.

During the visit, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Milutin Simović met with Slovenian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Karl Erjavec, Deputy Prime Minister and Agriculture Minister Dejan Židan, Infrastructure Minister Peter Gašperšič, and Minister of Finance Matej Vraničar Erman.

DPM Simović and Minister of Agriculture Židan signed an action plan defining further steps established by the Memorandum on cooperation in the field of agriculture and rural development, which was signed in 2016.

PR ServiceMinister of Economy of Montenegro Dragica Sekulić met in Ljubljana with Minister of Economic Development and Technology of Slovenia Zdravko Počivalšek. They proposed the organisation of an economic and investment forum in Montenegro, which will be a great opportunity for business people and investors from both countries to exchange experience, present investment opportunities and identify areas of cooperation in which it is possible to define joint projects.

Constructive dialogue within the working groups organised within the framework of the Joint Commission led to the signing of the Protocol of the third session, which defines the concrete mechanisms for cooperation and implementation of specific initiatives with a view to further boosting economic ties between Montenegro and Slovenia.

Montenegrin - Slovenian Joint Commission for Economic Cooperation is responsible for administering the Agreement on Economic Cooperation between the Government of Montenegro and the Government of Slovenia, which was signed in Budva on 5 September 2011, and takes care of its proper implementation.
