Montenegro will apply for membership in EMBL, EMBO
Podgorica, Montenegro (19 April 2017) -- Montenegro will apply for full membership in the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) and the European Molecular Biology Organisation (EMBO) based in Germany. This was agreed on at Minister of Science Sanja Damjanović's meeting with a delegation of the EMBL/EMBO paying an official visit to Montenegro on 18 -20 April.
The meeting specified the necessary steps for Montenegro’s applying for full membership and discussed opportunities for cooperation through the involvement of the Montenegrin scientific teams, and primarily young researchers.
EMBL and EMBO offer possibilities of attending doctoral and postdoctoral studies, as well as the active involvement of young researchers in international projects implemented by the two institutions, which will enable Montenegro’s scientists to use cutting-edge technologies in the field of molecular biology and medicine.
European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) is one of the world's leading research institutions. European Molecular Biology Organisation (EMBO) brings together more than 1,700 scientists from Europe. Its work is aimed at backing up talented researchers, exchanging scientific information and providing assistance in building the European research environment, where scientists can work on their research.
