Prince Nikola Petrović Njegoš awarded Legion of Honour, DPM Pažin: This is also recognition for Montenegro

Paris, France (21 April 2017) – Montenegrin Prince Nikola Petrović Njegoš was awarded today in Paris, the highest award of the Republic of France – National Order of the Legion of Honour.

The order was presented to Prince Nikola by Director of Continental Europe Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development of France Florence Mangin.
Deputy Prime Minister for Political System, Internal and Foreign Policy Zoran Pažin attended the ceremony in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of France, at the invitation of Prince Nikola.

Florence Mangin said that, except for being an architect, Prince Nikola worked continuously to strengthen Franco-Montenegrin relations and gave contemporary dimension to these relations, in addition to the already existing historical ties.

"His contribution is particularly reflected in various cultural exchanges between the two countries, especially the establishment of the Biennial of Contemporary Art in Cetinje," Mangin said.

Deputy Prime Minister Pažin congratulated Prince Nikola on extremely significant recognition, noting that this is also recognition for Montenegro.

"The mere symbolism of award title is important because honour is a value that should not be only historical but it is a value that still needs to be relevant and a value that should be interactive bond that connects all nations in Montenegro," DPM Pažin said, adding that he was confident that in the future the honour will be one of the most important values in Montenegro as it has historically been.
