Podgorica, Montenegro (22 April 2017) -- Prime Minister Duško Marković attended earlier today the Sixth Congress of SUBNOR and Anti - Fascists of Montenegro, which took place in Podgorica.
In his address to the Congress, PM Marković stressed that he is truly aware of a profound historical and civilisational role anti-fascism played since the early thirties of the last century up till now. Following the courage and vision of the anti - fascist movement, Montenegro has managed to preserve its place in the world map of modern societies, PM Marković emphasised, adding that anti - fascists stood up for the country's right to defend its existence not only at the beginning of the II World War, but also in May 2006.
"We know there are people in Montenegro who do not share nor understand the country's right to exist. Some of them are trapped in the past and willing to continue fight for already lost battles. Some of them have been manipulated by numerous political leaders who are trying to achieve their ambitions by misusing the emotions of one part of citizens. Some of them are directly instructed by foreign centres... But I believe that even that part of our society will change their mindset with the emerging facts and reasonable thinking as the time passes by. We are glad to welcome all of them willing to join us in pursuing the vision of modern Montenegro. However, we are strongly determined not to tolerate any compromise on the fundamental values of our society, particularly when it comes to anti - fascism as one of Montenegro's biggest achievements in the twentieth century, embodied in partisan movement 1941 - 1945," PM Marković stressed at the Sixth Congress of SUBNOR and Anti - Fascists of Montenegro.
Fundamental values of civilisation have been endangered throughout time one way or another, but the idea of anti - fascism is an essential strength and driving force which is continuously preserving those values at all times, PM Marković pointed out.
