Bošković with General Messenger: exceptional cooperation between Montenegro and the Great Britain in the field of defence

Minister of Defence Mr. Predrag Bošković had a meeting today with Deputy Chief of Defence Staff of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Lieutenant General Gordon Messenger who paid the official visit to Montenegro.
The two interlocutors pointed out exceptional bilateral cooperation between these two countries in the field of defence that particularly intensified during the last two years and expressed their readiness to improve the partnership in the forthcoming period.
Minister Bošković informed General Messenger on current events in the field of Euro-Atlantic integration agenda and emphasized that Montenegro is ready as the future member of NATO to contribute to solving of the current safety issues on the international stage together with allies. He indicated that the Ministry of Defence will remain committed to investing into development of civil and military staff, as well as modernisation of the Army of Montenegro, particularly emphasizing substantial improvement of the level of interoperability with the allied forces.
General Messenger congratulated Minister Bošković on enviable and overall success achieved by Montenegro within the previous period, and indicated that the United Kingdom would continue providing strong support to Montenegro in accomplishing the primary foreign policy goal: full-fledged membership in NATO, and that they would actively contribute to the promotion of its progress.
The two interlocutors particularly emphasized the importance of continuation of cooperation and current joint projects. Those are the following: destruction of ammunition surplus in Montenegro under the NATO Trust Fund, in which the Great Britain is the leading nation, the PELT project – the programme of improvement of English language for representatives of the Ministry of Defence and members of the Army of Montenegro, the joint training and exchange of experiences, as well as the activities aimed at strengthening of capacities in the PR department.
Following the exchange of opinions regarding the current safety and political situation in the region and Europe, Minister Bošković and General Messenger pointed out that more intensive collaboration and reinforcement of mutual trust were crucially important in the mentioned period.
