PM Marković congratulates European Commission’s President Jean-Claude Juncker on Europe Day

Podgorica, Montenegro (9 May 2017) -- Montenegro’s Prime Minister Duško Marković congratulated President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker on Europe Day.

On the occasion of marking May 9th – Europe Day, on behalf of the Government of Montenegro, and in my own name, I am sending you my sincere congratulations and best wishes for further progress in the field of preserving the fundamental values of democracy, peace and freedom that have been connecting the European Union member states over the past 67 years.

Striving to become an integral part of the European mosaic and new achievements of the European Union, Montenegro has made significant steps forward on its integration path in the past period. With 26 opened chapters, including two temporarily closed, working continuously on fulfillment of obligations under the European agenda and by responsible approach to the enlargement policy we have additionally affirmed the position of Montenegro as a promoter of the European system of values in the Western Balkans and beyond.

Expecting to further strengthen our future cooperation and open new chapters in our relations through direct dialogue, please accept the assurances of my highest consideration and best regards,” Prime Minister Marković stated in his greeting to the European Commission’s President.
