CDU Representatives of Regional Parliament of Saxony-Anhalt paid a visit to the Ministry of Defence

Defence Minister Predrag Bošković met today with members of the Christian Democratic Union (Christlich-Demokratische Union - CDU) of the Provincial Parliament of Saxony-Anhalt and the representatives of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation.

Bošković expressed his satisfaction with the visit of Parliament representatives and said that Germany in the process of Euro-Atlantic integration emerged as one of the most important partners of Montenegro, providing strong support to the reform of the defence system, both through assistance in education and bilateral activities, as well as through numerous donations. The minister said that the joint efforts of the two Armed Forces, first in the ISAF mission, and then in the mission “Resolute Support”, testify about the high degree of trust between the two countries.

Parliament Representatives noted that they, during their stay in Montenegro, had the opportunity to see for themselves the results achieved and emphasized that it is obvious that Montenegro has fulfilled all the tasks of the NATO's agenda, and that it is ready to become a full-fledged member of the Alliance. Representatives of the Provincial Parliament stated that Montenegrin future membership in the NATO is sending a clear message that hard and devoted work guarantees success, while pointing out the great importance of Montenegro's membership for the stability of the Balkans, the Mediterranean and Europe as a whole.

Minister Bošković said that Montenegrin defence sector, during the Euro-Atlantic integration, was committed to working on reforms to improve the defence system and achieve the required level of interoperability with the NATO and emphasized that employees of the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of Montenegro work intensively, in order to respond to the tasks and obligations ahead of us and to stand side by side with the allies after the full-fledged membership. He informed the attendees that 26 of the 28 NATO member states have ratified the Protocol and deposited the instrument of ratification in the State Department, that ratification of Spain is expected by the end of this week, and that until the 1st of June the completion of foreseen procedures in the Netherlands is expected.

Parliament representatives of the CDU of Saxony-Anhalt have expressed satisfaction with the excellent cooperation between the two countries in the field of defence, as well as for the opportunity to meet with the Minister Predrag Bošković, with the belief that the membership in the NATO will create new possibilities for cooperation between Montenegro and Germany.

Minister Bošković thanked the guests for the visit, and added that he hopes they will have the opportunity to re-visit Montenegro in the status of full-fledged member of the Alliance.
