Ambassador Whitting in a farewell visit to the Ministry of Defence

Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in Montenegro, Ian Whitting, met today with the Minister of Defence Mr. Predrag Bošković, during his farewell visit to the Ministry of Defence of Montenegro.
Bošković thanked Ambassador Whitting for his personal contribution and sincere commitment to the improvement of relations between Montenegro and the United Kingdom in all segments, especially in the area of defence. He emphasized the importance of the support of the United Kingdom in the final phase of the Euro-Atlantic processes in Montenegro and expressed the readiness of Montenegro to be reliable and credible ally, as well as an active promoter of Euro-Atlantic values in the region.
Minister expressed satisfaction with the content and quality of defence cooperation, pointing out the importance of the current joint projects. These are, first of all, PELT - training program for improvement of knowledge of English language for representatives of the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of Montenegro, capacity building programs in the field of education and training of human resources of the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of Montenegro, activities aimed at strengthening of capacities in the field of public relations and a project for destruction of weapons and ammunition surpluses in Montenegro, in the framework of the NATO Trust Fund (NTF), in which the UK is a leading nation.
Ambassador Whitting shared his gratitude for the provided hospitality of Montenegro during his three and a half years long mandate and congratulated on the results achieved in the implementation of the Euro-Atlantic foreign policy objective. He expressed his belief that Montenegro and the United Kingdom will continue excellent cooperation also as ally countries in the North Atlantic Alliance.
