PM Marković, KKR: Ready for investment in telecommunications infrastructure

Montenegro (15 May 2017) -- At the meeting with Prime Minister of Montenegro Duško Marković, partner in KKR and President
of KKR Global Institute Gen. David Petraeus
said that Kohlberg Kravis Roberts (KKR), the world's leading investment
company, is ready to invest in the improvement of telecommunications
infrastructure that will provide a better quality of Internet for citizens and
all those living in our country.
KKR is
the owner of United Group which operates in six countries in the region, a
co-investor in which is the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
KKR is present in Montenegro throughout the operations of the company Telemachus
Montenegro, which is part of United Group.
The Prime
Minister welcomed the interest and intentions of investor, agreeing with
assessments on the importance of broadband connection for everyday life and
work. He stressed the importance of direct investments in our country, noting
that GDP growth is directly dependent on their growth.
The Prime
Minister said that the focus will be on strenghtening economy in the next
period. In this context, the Prime Minister stressed the importance and
commitment to the reform of public administration which should enable it to be
service-oriented towards citizens, but also entrepreneurs.
Prime
Minister Marković informed Gen. Petraeus about the Government's efforts to
improve the business environment, ensure the growth of economic freedom and the
stability of public finances.
Gen.
Petraeus congratulated Montenegro for membership in NATO, and the officials
agreed that this step is an important signal for investors since joining the
Alliance provides the member-state with peace and stability and therefore
security of investment. He positively assessed the country's progress towards
the European Union, after which Prime Minister Marković pointed out that it is
extremely important for the whole region that the EU and NATO enlargement
policies are kept active.
