PM Marković, Foreign Investors Council: Together to better business environment

Podgorica, Montenegro (16 May 2017) -- Prime Minister of Montenegro Duško Marković met today with the delegation of Montenegrin Foreign Investors Council, led by President of the Board of Directors Christopf Schön. Foreign Investors Council wants to work on improving the business environment, creating conditions for a stronger presence of investors which ultimately lead to the growth of Montenegrin economy, creating new jobs and a better life.

Prime Minister Marković said that the integration processes in the EU and NATO provided peace and stability, adding that it is necessary work harder in the coming period in order to strengthen institutions, economy and business environment. Despite the political destruction, it is important to have an environment in Montenegro where one can create and work without obstacles. In this context, it is important to implement structural reforms, notably of the public administration, to make it efficient and service-oriented.

Recalling that the Council has 34 members with a total of 8,000 employees, Schön welcomed the success of the integration process, considering it important for Montenegro and the region, especially for investors, as it brings stability and prospects for business improvement. Although recommendations for improvement of status are given by the White Paper, Foreign Investors Council welcomed the invitation for membership in the Competitiveness Council.

The Prime Minister invited foreign investors to delegate representatives to the working groups in charge of amending legislation aimed at contributing to the improvement of the legal framework in which the business operates in Montenegro.

Prime Minister Marković noted the readiness and openness for cooperation with foreign investors, stressing the importance of foreign direct investment to GDP grpwth and consequently a better life for all citizens in our country.
