Pažin, Danielsson: New results in rule of law through continued partnership

Podgorica, Montenegro (18 May 2017) -- Deputy Prime Minister for Political System, Interior and Foreign policy Zoran Pažin met today with Director-General for Enlargement and Neighborhood at the European Commission Christian Danielsson.

Danielsson said that Montenegro has done a lot so far and praised the efforts made in moving the country towards further development. He shared the impression that Montenegro has normatively and institutionally strengthened its legal system to the fullest extent. On this occasion, he expressed the expectation that Montenegro will continue to achieve concrete results in the fight against corruption and various forms of organised criminal.

Expressing his gratitude for the support and partnership in the process of Montenegro's accession to the European Union, DPM Pažin stated his belief that the European Union support will contribute to further strengthening the rule of law and overcoming jointly identified challenges. DPM Pažin expressed full political commitment of the Government to continuing the creation of conditions and support to relevant institutions in further activities aimed at strengthening the rule of law in our country.

The officials exchanged concrete information about planned activities that will be an instrument to meet transitional standards and that will help Montenegro's entry into the second, final phase of the negotiating process.
