Tirana, Albania (18 May 2017) -- Speaking at the ministerial meeting in the framework of a regional conference entitled “Public service delivery across the Western Balkans” in Tirana, Minister of Public Administration Suzana Pribilović said that the efficient public administration, a high level of openness and transparency of public institutions, creating an efficient and service-committed public administration at both state and local levels, modern public administration characterised by the growth of public confidence in its work and approach to the standards and level of the EU member-states, are the objectives that the Government of Montenegro set through the Public Administration Reform Strategy.

Despite the positive results achieved in previous period in the field of public administration reform in Montenegro, much more needs to be done, as Minister Pribilović stressed. Since the Strategy was adopted efforts were made to improve the institutional framework for the activities of public administration reform formed by the Ministry of Public Administration, which is a significant step ahead that guarantees an even greater commitment to the realisation of strategic goals.

She added that the focus is directed towards improving the organisation of public administration and upgrading the civil service system, as well as strengthening of eGovernment with the aim of better realisation of the rights of citizens and business, bearing in mind that administration employees in administrative bodies have a central role in providing administrative services to citizens and business.

“The conference is an opportunity to discuss an important topic that is a key segment of our public policy in further democratic, economic and information development of the countries. I believe that, regardless of the level of development of our countries and the stage of the integration process, the reform of public administration is the issue of equal burdens and therefore it is important to exchange positive experiences and information, but also to strengthen our management systems through practical regional cooperation in accordance with the requirements of modern and electronic state administration,” Minister Pribilović noted.

Conference “Public service delivery across the Western Balkans” represented a chance for a series of meetings with the relevant ministers from the region, in order to improve relations and future cooperation in the field of public administration reform.
