Minister of Science meets the Attaché for Science of the Italian Embassy Paolo Battineli

Ministry of ScienceMinister of Science Dr. Sanja Damjanović met today with the Attaché for Science of the Italian Embassy in Belgrade, Mr. Paolo Battinelli.

At the beginning of the meeting, Minister Damjanović and Mr. Battineli talked about the initiative to establish an international scientific institute in South-eastern Europe, with which the Attaché was already familiar. The Minister presented the next steps in relation to the initiative, which concern the organization of commissions that will work on specific conceptual designs, as well as on training programmes for young researchers.

At the meeting, a general agreement was made on cooperation of Montenegrin scientists and researchers on major research projects, which are important for international collaboration, i.e. the use of EU funds for financing.

Attaché for Science Mr. Paolo Battineli expressed Italy’s full support for the establishment of the international institute and a desire for further improvement of close cooperation between researchers in each segment. He said that this project was unique for the region of South-eastern Europe and that as such it was essential for the development of science and scientific capacities of the countries in the region.

Given that Italy is the organizer of the 2018 Berlin Process Science Conference, the meeting was a great opportunity for interlocutors to discuss concrete opportunities for cooperation, as well as to emphasize the joint action with the aim of creating strong ties between Italy and Montenegro in the field of science, technology and industry.
