Bošković – Gajdoš: Montenegro and the Republic of Slovakia to intensify defense cooperation as allies

Minister of Defence, Mr. Predrag Bošković met today with the Minister of Defense of the Slovak Republic Peter Gajdoš. They discussed the joint action within the Alliance and the possibility of further developing the cooperation between the two countries in the field of defense. 

Two ministers expressed great satisfaction with yesterday's formalization of Montenegro's accession to NATO, with belief that our country's membership in the Alliance will contribute to the geopolitical stability of the region reducing tensions in a historically unstable area. Bošković and Gajdoš pointed out that the cooperation between Montenegro and Slovakia in the field of defense is at a high level, with the expectation for the further improvement as allies within the Allience.

Montenegrin Minister pointed out that the Slovak Republic was one of the most important partners of our country on the path of Euro-Atlantic integration. He thanked his Slovakian counterpart, as the first NATO Defense Minister, for visiting Montenegro which became the 29th member of NATO, thus adding to the significance of the most important moment in recent Montenegrin history.

Gajdoš congratulated Montenegro and all its citizens on the achieved historic success, while stressing out that our country will have the unreserved support of the Slovak Republic on its European path.

The two ministers held a press conference, where it was pointed out that Montenegro is still expecting significant obligations in the fulfillment of NATO tasks, which are in favor of global peace and security.

"Montenegro in NATO means a stable region. A stable Balkans is certainly in the interests of Russia, "concluded Minister Bošković, responding to one of the journalists' questions.
