PM Marković hosts Japanese Ambassador: Montenegro's NATO membership contributes to regional stability

Prime Minister Duško Marković hosted earlier today Ambassador of Japan Juichi Takahara.

The Prime Minister expressed satisfaction with the good and friendly relations between Montenegro and Japan and expressed interest in their further improvement, especially in the economic field. He stressed the importance of intensifying political contacts at high and highest level and expressed readiness that the highest officials of Montenegro visit Japan in the future.

Ambassador Takahara congratulated the Prime Minister on Montenegro's membership in NATO and said that Japan supports the European integration of Montenegro and that he sees it as a future member of the European Union. In this context, it was estimated that Euro-Atlantic and European integration of Montenegro contribute significantly to the stability of the Western Balkans.

PM Marković expressed appreciation for the development aid which the Government of Japan provided to Montenegro, stressing that the Government and citizens of Montenegro highly value donations by the Government of Japan. The Prime Minister expressed his satisfaction with the opening of the Japanese Corner in Podgorica, which, as he said, will strengthen the relations between Montenegro and Japan, and bring Japanese culture even closer to the people in Montenegro.
