Deputy Prime Minister for the economic policy and financial system and Minister of Agriculture Milutin Simović said earlier today that another million EUR was invested through the public call for purchase of machinery, accessories and equipment. DPM Simović said that million EUR was invested for the purchase of approximately 1,000 pieces of machinery, accessories and equipment, with grant support from the Ministry of Agriculture of 500,000 EUR.

Agricultural producers in Montenegro, 348 of them, mostly from the north, took advantage of the opportunity to purchase new machinery, with the support of the state in the amount of 50 percent of the investment.

DPM Simović recalled that 2017 Agrobudget enabled the farmers to use significantly more support resources, about 31.5 million EUR, and that 23 rural development measures enable 18.7 million EUR.

In addition to these funds, he added, other projects and support programmes are also available to the farmers.

"For the improvement of agricultural production and infrastructure in rural areas, the Ministry of International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), provided about 4 million EUR favourable loans and grant assistance in the amount of 2 million EUR. Also, there are ongoing negotiations with the World Bank with the aim of obtaining new MIDAS project," DPM Simović said.

DPM Simovic reminded that this year the Ministry announced 24 public calls for various forms of support, of which 18 refer to the agricultural development policy and rural development.

"Total support that farmers will get through these 18 calls amount to 3.5 million EUR," DPM Simović said.
