Prime Minister Duško Marković hosted earlier today a farewell visit by UNICEF Representative to Montenegro Benjamin Perks. Thanks to the help and partnership with UNICEF, Montenegrin society is more open and ready to face its weaknesses and address them, the Prime Minister said.
The officials particularly emphasised the importance of improving education. Prime Minister Marković said that the Government will adopt today a set of laws in the field of education that is, through the new approach, aimed at creating conditions for a capable, motivated and advanced nation.
Mr Perks pointed out the importance of involving a family in the process of education, as well as in building child's personality. He added that UNICEF will continue to support the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health in order to provide expert assistance to families and children.
PM Marković thanked Mr Perks and his team for their support in carrying out comprehensive reforms and achieving significant results in transforming society and accepting European standards and values.
The Prime Minister especially praised the results achieved in cooperation with UNICEF in the areas of deinstitutionalisation of children, inclusive and preschool education, and reform of the juvenile justice system and the prevention of violence against children.
Noting the need for further continuation of the reform process, PM Marković thanked Mr Perks for his activities and assistance to Montenegro and wished him success in the forthcoming professional engagement.
