The National Investment Commission (NIC), chaired by Prime Minister Duško Marković, considered and adopted the updated Single List of Priority Infrastructure Projects.

The updated list contains 57 projects from five sectors: energy, transport, environmental protection, social services and other infrastructure. Estimated value of the project, whose implementation will begin in the period 2017-2025, is about EUR five billion. The list is sent to the Government for verification.

PM Marković said that this list defines Montenegro's development interest and the focus should be on projects creating more opportunities for development and better quality of life. Now, he added, through various models, support should be sought for the realisation of identified priority projects.

The aim is to provide a significant amount of funds for the implementation of projects through the West Balkan Investment Framework (WBIF). In this context, NIC has tasked the competent ministries to strengthen administrative capacities and intensify communication with international financial institutions in order to adequately prepare potential projects for co-financing infrastructural investments by the WBIF.

The session also discussed the challenges in the implementation of certain EU-funded infrastructure projects, ways to improve the preparation of projects for the WBIF, and the plan for project applications for ongoing WBIF calls in the context of the Berlin Process.
