Minister Darmanović to pay working visit to UN

Minister of Foreign Affairs Srđan Darmanović will be conducting a working visit to the United Nations (UN) in New York, from 27 to 30 June 2017. During the visit, Minister Darmanović will hold meetings with Mr Antonio Guterres, Secretary General of the UN, Mr Peter Thomson, the President of the 71st General Assembly of the UN, Mr Miroslav Jenčo, Assistant UN Secretary General for Political Affairs, and Mr Jean-Pierre Lacroix, UN Under-Secretary for Peacekeeping operations.

The meetings of Minister Darmanović with the UN officials represent an opportunity to promote the accomplishments of Montenegro at national as well as international level, especially in light of the priorities of NATO integration and membership. The emphasis will be put on the political and security situation in the region, in context of our continued commitment and confirmed good neighborly cooperation and promotion of the region.

The Visit of Minister Darmanović to the UN is a part of our continued high level dialogue in the UN system, which confirms the commitment of Montenegro to the World organization and its core values, with special attention to maintaining peace and security in the world, implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, promotion and protection of human rights and efforts to achieve a global agreement regarding the issue of migrants and refugees.
