He thanked the Government of the United States of America, President Trump and the people for a strong and continuous support for Montenegro's membership in NATO, which is a conformation of the lasting and inextricable friendship and partnership between the two countries and two nations, as well as the message that Open Door policy and transatlantic cooperation remain high on the agenda of the United States and the Alliance.

This is especially important in the context of the current security situation in Europe, as well as in the Western Balkan region, Prime Minister Marković stressed in his letter.

He added that, within the Alliance, the cooperation and strategic partnership will be further strengthened and enhanced with new quality and content, both in terms of bilateral relations and the collective security system.

The Prime Minister emphasised that Montenegro, as a new ally, will continue to contribute constructively to shared values and regional stability, as well as to accomplishing the Alliance's objectives in a committed manner, including achieving the appropriate level of allocation for the defence sector.

He also noted that Montenegro, with the strong support of the United States, will continue to develop in line with the principles of freedom, democracy and respect for human rights, as the foundation of a modern society.

Prime Minister Marković voiced belief that in the period ahead of us the Montenegrin-US relations and partnership will be further strengthened in all areas of mutual interest, and especially in the economic sector through a stronger presence of the US investments in Montenegro. It is undoubtedly that the highest level bilateral meetings in Washington in May and June this year, as well as the forthcoming official visit of the Vice President of the United States Mike Pence to Montenegro will give a strong incentive to boosting cooperation, Prime Minister Duško Marković concluded.
