The project of cluster development and transformation of rural areas of Montenegro, implemented by the Government of Montenegro and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), will be officially opened in Nikšić on Friday, 7 July.

According to the Agreement signed by representatives of the Government of Montenegro and IFAD on 12 May 2017 at the headquarters of that organisation in Rome, Montenegro, as a member of the IFAD, received very favourable loan funds in the amount of EUR 3.9 million and non-refundable funds in the amount of EUR 1.9 million, for the improvement of agricultural production and infrastructure in rural areas of Montenegro. With the envisaged contribution of the Government of Montenegro and local governments, the total value of the project is EUR 13.6 million.

The project encompasses seven municipalities: Nikšić, Šavnik, Žabljak, Mojkovac, Bijelo Polje, Petnjica and Berane.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Milutin Simović and the Director of IFAD for the Middle East, North Africa, Europe and Central Asia Dr Khalida Bouzard will speak at the opening of the IFAD project.

Mayor of Nikšić Veselin Grbović will address the audience on behalf of the municipalities where the project is being implemented. The official opening will be attended by representatives of municipalities, representatives of ministries and institutions, associations of agricultural producers and companies in the field of agriculture.

The opening and presentation of the project will be held at Tehnopolis, starting at 10:30.

We invite media representatives to attend the opening ceremony of the Project.
