PM Marković meets Sheikh Al Nahya: Montenegro is safe country for UAE investments
Podgorica, Montenegro (17 June 2017) -- Montenegro is a safe and secure country for investments from the United Arab Emirates, Prime Minister Duško Marković said at a meeting with the UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who is paying an official visit to Montenegro.
Two officials agreed that the bilateral relations between Montenegro and the UAE are excellent and that there is room for further boosting of economic cooperation, especially in the field of tourism. In that context, PM Marković emphasised the importance of establishing a Dubai-Tivat airline, as well as continuing cooperation on visa liberalisation. It was jointly concluded that it would be useful to establish mixed commissions that would work towards fostering economic cooperation.
Recalling that Montenegro became a NATO member on 5 June, Prime Minister Marković stressed that the country sees its future in the European Union, noting that the goal is to bring the negotiations to an end in the next five-year period. Sheikh Al Nahjan welcomed this Montenegro’s commitment and especially praised the excellent relations established with the countries of the region, finding it encouraging for foreign investors.
Noting that there is no single Europe without the Western Balkans, as well as the stability of the Union without a stable region, Prime Minister Marković stated that Montenegro sees itself in the EU, regardless of how it will look like in the future.
In the context of the talks on peace and stability, the meeting highlighted the importance of fighting all kinds of extremism and radicalism and strengthening the cooperation of the competent services in that area. Two officials also exchanged views on the current developments in the Persian Gulf.
