The Bureau for Operational Coordination of Security Services concluded at an extraordinary session held on Tuesday evening at the request of Prime Minister Duško Marković, that all competent state authorities professionally, responsibly and successfully responded to wildfires that had happened in the Central and Coastal region in the past few days. However, based on the acquired experience, parts of the protection system and their coordination need to be further improved.

Comprehensive information on all undertaken protection and rescue activities was presented at the session chaired by the Coordinator of the Bureau, Minister of Interior Mevludin Nuhodžić. All available human, material and organisational capacities were activated in the firefighting. About 1,200 interventions have been carried out. There were no casualties. The maximum commitment and sacrifice of all actors came to the fore.

The Bureau pointed out the importance and the need to provide and modernise material and technical means for preventive action and fire control, as well as to consider the possibility of establishing a special fund to support the protection and rescue system.

The Bureau expressed special gratitude for the assistance provided within the Euro-Atlantic Disaster Response Coordination Centre (EARDCC) and the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism - Ukraine, Switzerland, Bulgaria and Israel - as well as the neighbouring countries - Serbia, Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina - on the readiness to provide support in firefighting and restoration.
