Minister Nurkovic in Macau with the CRBC management
Published on: Jun 4, 2017 • 10:00 PM Author: Ministry
On the second day of his visit to the Investment Forum in Macau, Minister of Traffic and Maritime Affairs Osman Nurkovic attended multiple meetings aimed at presenting investment projects which Montenegro is strategically committed to in the forthcoming period.
Firstly, the Minister had a meeting with Mr. Du Fei, Vice-President of CRBC – a company which executes works on the section of the Smokovac-Matesevo highway. The Vice-President Fei expressed satisfaction at the acceleration of works on the construction of the highway and the creation of conditions necessary to finalize the project according to set plans.
CRBC representatives also expressed interest in other projects in Montenegro, and especially the construction of the next section of the Matesevo-Andrijevica highway, as well as the reconstruction of the railway from Bar to Serbia.
Minister Nurkovic used the opportunity to emphasize other, equally important projects which are awaiting CRBC’s offer –e.g. the building of Veriga bridge and construction of the roundabout in Tivat and Budva. The Minister noted that the success on the construction of the first section of the highway is the best recommendation for all other projects in Montenegro and the region for CRBC. The existing cooperation with CRBC on these projects should be seen as a continuation of the strengthening of traditionally friendly relations between Montenegro and China.
Minister Nurkovic was also present on a well-attended panel during where the Minister had the opportunity to present Montenegro’s potential in the field of transport.
The panel was attended by the representatives of Croatia, Afghanistan, Philippines, as well as major world banks and the United Nations. During the meeting, a Shanghai company expressed interest in the Port of Bar and the construction of a logistics center in its vicinity, which would provide the port, railway and the highway with a large quantity of goods. Interest of the Chinese economy and public in Montenegro was expressed during the Forum and through a TV interview with the Minister Nurkovic which was held on Fenix TV from Hong Kong (covering south-east and the insular part of China).
The interview aimed to introduce the TV audience with existing and potential, future Chinese projects in Montenegro. During the segment, Minister Nurkovic emphasized that Chinese companies work with quality and in accordance with European standards which allows them to compete for construction work in Montenegro hand-in-hand with the European companies. As an example of this, the Minister mentioned the first priority section of the highway.
Future potential projects of importance that Chinese companies might participate in are the continuation of the construction of Bar-Boljare highway, Adriatic-Ionian road and the railway reconstruction, as was concluded during the meeting of the Montenegrin delegation with the Chinese economic representatives.
