PR ServicePodgorica, Montenegro (28 July 2017) -- Plužine is a municipality with serious resources, where much benefit for the population of the region and the country as a whole could be derived from small and large investments, said Prime Minister Duško Marković at a meeting with Mayor of Plužine Municipality Mijuško Bajagić.

Prime Minister Marković emphasised that the Government is set to contribute to attaining the development goals and programme objectives of the municipality in cooperation with the local authorities and congratulated the local government and citizens on the Municipality Day.

Meeting discussed the problems that impeded the more dynamic development of the municipality, which are related to better exploitation of water and wood potential, valorisation of tourist opportunities and promotion of agricultural production. Representatives of the Municipality of Plužine pointed out the problems they experience in the functioning of the Regional Park Piva, noting that the functioning within such areas should be regulated by the law.

Leaders of Plužine municipality pointed out the necessity of more efficient fulfilment of obligations by the Electric Power Industry of Montenegro (EPCG) towards the municipality, underscoring the significance of further improvement of road infrastructure, both in the city and in rural areas.

Recalling the tourist potential, the municipality representatives pointed out the activities relating primarily to rafting and emphasised the importance of putting into operation of the hotel, so that tourists could have the opportunity to stay in that area for longer.

Meeting also addressed local finances, as well as the need to change the criteria for using funds from the Equalisation Fund. Prime Minister Marković said that he expects the new Law on Financing Local Governments to improve the situation in that area.
