PM Marković meets with leaders of states participating in Adriatic Charter Summit

Prime Minister Duško Marković met on Wednesday in Podgorica on the sidelines of the Adriatic Charter Summit with the leaders of the participating states. The joint assessment at all meetings was that the excellent relations between Montenegro and each of the country of the region can be improved especially in the area of economy.

PM Marković and Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia Ana Brnabić expressed satisfaction with the quality of relations between the two countries. They expressed mutual agreement that a joint cabinet session should be held in Podgorica or Belgrade in the next few months. PM Marković briefed Prime Minister Brnabić about the outstanding progress made in the construction of the priority section of the Bar-Boljare motorway and expressed satisfaction with the fact that Serbia is also working on quality road connections with Montenegro. The issue of expanding the capacity of the border crossing point on the Bijelo Polje - Prijepolje section was also opened.

At the meeting between PM Marković and Prime Minister of the Republic of Albania Edi Rama, the possibility of work on joint valorisation of the resources of the Skadar Lake was highlighted. Prime Minister Rama was particularly interested in the situation in the border region of Montenegro. In this regard, Prime Minister Marković emphasised the excellent cooperation between the Government and the parties that are gathering Albanians in Montenegro.

PM Marković and Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina Denis Zvizdić agreed that the membership of Montenegro in NATO is good for the whole region. Prime Minister Croatia Andrej Plenković expressed the same opinion. Prime Ministers Zvizdić and Plenković highlighted the importance of Montenegro's membership in NATO.

Prime Minister Marković congratulated Prime Minister of the Republic of Macedonia Zoran Zaev on the election victory and the formation of the Government, saying that Montenegro strongly supports the continuation of the process of European and Euro-Atlantic integration of Macedonia. Prime Minister Zaev thanked Montenegro for organising the Adriatic Charter Summit and congratulated Montenegro on NATO membership.

"We look forward to your every success," Prime Minister Zaev told the Montenegrin Prime Minister.

President of the Republic of Kosovo Hashim Thaçi emphasised that there are no open issues between the two neighbouring and friendly countries and that the relations are developing well and for the benefit of the citizens of both Montenegro and Kosovo. PM Marković and President Thaçi particularly highlighted the friendship and partnership in difficult situations in the past, pointing out that this is a pledge of good and meaningful present and future relations.
