PM Duško Marković at WB6 Summit in Durres: These kind of meetings provide an opportunity for boosting development and creating new jobs

Durres, Albania (26 August 2017) – Prime Minister Duško Marković attended earlier today the an informal meeting of the prime ministers of the Western Balkans Six (WB6), where he emphasised that these kind of meetings represent an opportunity for boosting development and youth employment, creating new jobs and improving the quality of life.
“A simple fact that prime ministers of the Western Balkan countries meet on a regular basis and talk about these issues is a guarantee that we will have the results arising from this practice. When it comes to the national interest and national economy, it is well known that we have managed to ensure a visible level of fiscal consolidation and to increase the level of economy growth over the past six months. I could say that all available data gathered in these six months are pointing out that economy growth is estimated at 4%. But that is not enough to achieve the level of the quality of life of the EU citizens. These kind of meetings provide an opportunity for boosting growth and youth employment, creating new jobs and increasing the level of the quality of life,” Prime Minister highlighted during the Summit.
Today’s meeting represents a continuation of a good practice aimed at gathering prime ministers of the region on a regular basis to talk about all the issues relevant for the economy and overall development, PM Marković highlighted. The meeting also discussed the existing trade barriers, modalities for improving the trade, possibilities to find more qualitative solutions for problems existing between the states, as well as the need for boosting cooperation between the Chambers of Commerce, PM Marković added.
PM Marković voiced belief that Montenegro will host this kind of gathering by the end of this year, noting that all the Western Balkan countries, as well as Montenegro and its citizens, could benefit from it.
In addition to Prime Minister Marković, the Summit was also attended by Prime Minister of the Republic of Albania Edi Rama as a host of this event, Prime Minister of the Republic of Macedonia Zoran Zaev, Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia Ana Brnabić, Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo Isa Mustafa, Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina Denis Zvizdić, as well as the EU Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn and World Bank Vice President for Europe and Central Asia Cyril Muller.
The EU Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn said that the Berlin Process is creating enough space for cooperation, adding that the Western Balkan countries should reach be more concrete in defining the implementation of the Action Plan adopted in Trieste.
