Podgorica, Montenegro (7 September 2017) -- Health Minister Kenan Hrapović told the press conference following the 39th Cabinet session that the Government discussed and adopted the information on the conclusion of the protocol on cooperation in the field of transplantation medicine between the health ministries of Montenegro and Croatia.

"Previous protocol on cooperation in the field of procurement and transplantation of a part of human organs for the purpose of treatment ceased to be valid in 2015, and, considering the progress made in the donation and transplantation process through its implementation, we decided to renew cooperation with the Ministry of Health of Croatia in order to establish a self-sustaining system and develop donor and organ transplantation programmes in Montenegro," said Minister Hrapović.

He pointed out that the implementation of this agreement means that the Montenegrin citizens can be enrolled in the waiting list of Croatia for organ transplantation, which is part of the Eurotransplant Foundation, an organisation that provides services to transplant centres, laboratories and donor hospitals in the most developed European countries, while respecting the rules of reciprocity under the "authority for the organ" system.
