Prime Minister Duško Marković met earlier today with Interior Minister Mevludin Nuhodžić and Head of the National Security Agency Dejan Peruničić for talks on security issues and the obligations of the security sector in that regard.

The meeting pointed out a favourable state of peace and security in Montenegro and the progress in tackling all forms of crime, as well as increased confidence in the police.

In parallel, concern was expressed about the activities of organised criminal groups resulting in mutual clashes.

It was concluded that institutions should undertake even more intensive actions against perpetrators of these crimes and that all resources should be available to the Police Authority and National Security Agency. Criminals need be stopped, the state will know how, the meeting concluded.

It was also noted that institutional cooperation needs to be strenghtened. The meeting emphasised that penal policy is not often preventive and that prosecutors should act more proactively.
