Podgorica, Montenegro (19 September 2017) – Prime Minister Duško Marković hosted earlier today delegation of the Sino-CEEF Holding Company headed by its chairman Jiang Jianqing.
The meeting emphasised the joint interest for investing in transport and energy, as well as providing support to the aforementioned areas, stressing that Montenegro offers various opportunities for investments in tourism and agriculture.
PM Marković highlighted that Montenegro's biggest interest is the continuation of the railway construction after the completion of the priority section. „We are ready to find a joint financial model with the People's Republic of China in order to provide funds for this capital investment,“, PM Marković highlighted, adding that the both governments are considering this project not only from a business point of view, but also as project of a national importance. Cooperation can also be carried out on projects aimed at valorisation of Montenegrin airports and energy potentials, PM Marković underlined.
The People’s Republic of China allocated EUR 10 billion for investments within the project 16+1 and „The Belt and Road Initiative“ with an aim to provide additional EUR 50 billion through loans, head of the Sino-CEE Holding company Jianqinh explained, adding that Montenegro has potentials and resources for attracting one part of that amount.
The meeting also agreed on the continuation of communication in concrete issues.
Sino-CEEF Holding was inaugurated in November 2016 by the president of the People’s Republic of China Li Keqiang, in the presence of the Latvian Prime Minister Māris Kučinskis. It was launched as a platform for economic cooperation between China and 16 Central and Eastern European Countries.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister Milutin Simović, Minister of Transport and Maritime Affairs Osman Nurković and CEO of the Sino-CEE Holding Europe Jin Chen.
