New York: Montenegro and Republic of Indonesia sign Agreement on Abolition of visas for holders of diplomatic and official passports

New York, the USA (22 September 2017) – On the occasion of taking part in work of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Minister of Foreign Affairs Srđan Darmanović attended the Ministerial meeting of the Group of Friends of Mediation organised by Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Finland and Turkey.

During his address, Minister Darmanović reiterated Montenegro's constructive role in such a turbulent period for the region, as well as significant efforts the country has made in order to preserve peace. He also voiced Montenegro’s strong commitment to cherishing dialogue, cooperation and peaceful settlement of disputes between the countries. 

Minister Darmanović highlighted that Montenegro will host a conference aimed at promoting mediation as a very important instrument for preventing and resolving disputes in the Mediterranean, adding that the conference will be held in the first quarter of 2018. 

Minister Darmanović also met with his Indonesian counterpart Retno Lestari Priansari Marsudi for talks on bilateral relations between the two countries. The two officials signed an Agreement on Abolition of visas for holders of diplomatic and official passports, as well as Memorandum on bilateral political consultations between the two countries.

The meeting emphasised the mutual interest for strengthening friendly relations with a particular emphasis on tourism as an important area for boosting cooperation.
