PM Marković meets in Skopje with representatives of Montenegrin diaspora and honorary consuls

Skopje, Republic of Macedonia (17 October 2017) -- Prime Minister Duško Marković told representatives of the Montenegrin diaspora in Macedonia that the State of Montenegro will always be there for its emigrants and pointed out the importance of the role of honorary consuls in promoting Montenegro in this country.

The meeting with Boris Popivoda, President of the Montenegrin Community in the Republic of Macedonia, and Medo Balić, President of the Emigrant Union from Montenegro in the Republic of Macedonia, discussed the activities of the Montenegrin community and its cooperation with the Montenegro's institutions.

Prime Minister Marković informed emigrants about political and economic situation in Montenegro, as well as the priorities and the results achieved by the Government. In that context, it was pointed out that the membership of Montenegro in NATO significantly contributed to the country's international reputation and increased interest of investors.

Representatives of the emigrant organisations congratulated the Government and the Prime Minister on the successes so far and pointed out that the preservation of the civic concept of the State of Montenegro is of great importance.

Prime Minister also spoke with Honorary Consuls of Montenegro in the Republic of Macedonia, Milorad Andrijašević and Branko Azevski.

Honorary Consuls noted that there is room for reinforcing the Montenegrin-Macedonian economic cooperation and underscored the importance of the role of honorary consuls in the promotion of the Montenegrin economic, investment, tourism, cultural and other potentials. The meeting also discussed the need to open a direct air route from Podgorica to Skopje.
