PM Marković, Browne: Montenegro is interested in positive experiences of Antigua and Barbuda in introduction of economic citizenship
Budva,
Montenegro (20 October 2017) -- During the Global Citizen Forum 2017, Prime
Minister Duško Marković met with Prime
Minister of Antigua and Barbuda Gaston
Browne, who is participating in this prestigious event.
Thanking
Prime Minister Browne for his stay in Montenegro, Prime Minister Marković
expressed the solidarity of our country with the people of Antigua and Barbuda,
who recently suffered a catastrophic destruction of the hurricanes Irma and
Maria.
Prime
Ministers Marković and Browne noted that small countries such as Montenegro and
Antigua and Barbuda have enough space to cooperate on global issues such as
climate change, adding that today's meeting should mark the beginning of direct
cooperation between the two countries.
“Although Montenegro is on the other hemisphere, we have a lot of things in common,” the Prime Minister Browne said.
The two officials concluded that the two countries, whose dominant industry is tourism, can cooperate in exchanging experiences as well as in attracting renowned investors.
Prime Minister Browne urged Montenegro to implement the plan for introducing economic citizenship, saying that his country succeeded in attracting significant investments by enriching supply as well as diversifying the economy.
“Today, 20 percent of our GDP is based on the result of our decision to introduce economic citizenship,” Prime Minister Browne said, adding that the project did not produce any negative consequences.
Prime Minister Marković expressed special interest in the positive experiences of Antigua and Barbuda in implementing the programme of economic citizenship.
