Sveti Stefan, Montenegro (20 October 2017) -- Prime Minister Duško Marković met today with former Prime Minister of Portugal and President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso.

Prime Minister Marković welcomed Jose Manuel Barroso and expressed satisfaction with his arrival to Montenegro, especially on the occasion of a prestigious event such as the Global Citizen Forum 2017. The Montenegrin Prime Minister informed the former President of the European Commission about the results of the Government on both external and internal plans, as well as our strategic plans concerning investments, reforms and integration with the goal of rising the living standards of citizens.

Jose Manuel Barroso congratulated Prime Minister Marković on quality and comprehensive reforms and, in particular, on the successful process of the European integration, saying that, although now he speaks in his own name, there is no dilemma that our country will be the next EU member.

“Reforms that Montenegro carried out are not only successful, but can also serve as an example and a model to other countries,” the former President of the European Commission said.
