Podgorica, Montenegro (27 October 2017) -- Prime Ministers of Montenegro and Vojvodina Duško Marković and Igor Mirović agreed today in Podgorica that bilateral relations between Montenegro and the Republic of Serbia are excellent and that their further improvement is possible within regional and global initiatives such as the Berlin Process and the “16+1” Project.

Both Montenegro and Vojvodina traditionally inherit the values of multi-ethnicity and multiculturalism, which further brings us together. The event “Dani Vojvodine” (“Days of Vojvodina”), which begins today in Podgorica, is an additional opportunity for affirmation and strengthening of economic and cultural cooperation, according to Prime Ministers Marković and Mirović.

The meeting particularly emphasised the fact that Vojvodina participates with one quarter of the export of goods from the Republic of Serbia to Montenegro, which is an opportunity for strengthening economic exchange. It was also concluded that there is a mutual interest in intensifying cooperation in the field of agriculture, in particular by linking eminent Novi Sad's scientific and technological institutions such as Biosens, scientific institutes of field and vegetable and food technology and others with Montenegrin agriculture.

The meeting also discussed the best use of property of the Republic of Serbia and the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina on the Montenegrin coast, as well as the necessity of improving the border crossing point Gostun – Dobrakovo.

Prime Ministers Marković and Mirović noted that the affirmation of the position of the national communities of Serbs in Montenegro and Montenegrin in the Republic of Serbia is in the common interest.
