Prime Minister Marković and Deputy Prime Minister of Albania Mesi agree on cooperation in making best use of Skadar Lake
Bečići, Montenegro (2 November 2017) --Montenegrin Prime Minister Duško Marković and Deputy Prime Minister of Albania Senida Mesi jointly assessed that there are no outstanding issues between the two neighbouring and friendly countries, that cooperation is developing in a spirit of good faith and understanding and that the two governments are ready to carry out a series of concrete activities, paying particular attention to the cooperation in the making the best use of Skadar Lake, thus making a contribution to further improvement of relations with a view of provide better quality of life for citizens of the two countries.
At a meeting held on the sidelines of the Montenegrin Chamber of Commerce’s international conference in Bečići, Prime Minister Marković and Deputy Prime Minister Mesi agreed on concrete steps to overcome the challenges of the Bojana border crossing and expressed willingness to launch joint activities on valorisation of Skadar Lake and Bojana River.
PM Marković noted that Montenegro fully supports European integration of Albania.
"We want Albania to start EU accession negotiations as quickly as possible," Prime Minister Marković said.
DPM Mesi expressed her Government's interest in Montenegro’s experience in making the best use of tourism resources and attracting foreign investors in that area, adding that Montenegro, compared to Albania, has made significant progress in that regard.
The meeting also discussed a previously agreed joint session of the two cabinets, as well several other topics of both countries’ interest.
