PM Marković meets with delegation of Societe Generale Group: Environment created by Government contributes to good business results

Podgorica, Montenegro (10 November 2017) -- Prime Minister Duško Marković hosted today a delegation of the Societe Generale Group, led by Gianluca Soma, Chief Executive Officer of Societe Generale for Europe.

The meeting expressed the satisfaction with the business of one of the largest European financial groups in Montenegro, with the assessment that the good results of Societe Generale Bank Montenegro are also contributed by the favorable business environment created by the Government, as well as the recent membership of Montenegro in NATO, which increased the recognition and perception of Montenegro's investment security.

Prime Minister Marković assessed that the reputation of Societe Generale Group, its business operations in Montenegro and its standards of business, as well as valuable partnership with numerous state and private companies, give a strong impetus to our economy. “The presence of Societe Generale Group in Montenegro is a huge capital for our economy,” the Prime Minister said, adding that the high level of social responsibility of Societe Generale Bank Montenegro is an example of a responsible attitude towards the wider community.

Chief Executive Officer of Societe Generale for Europe said that the bank's excellent business results in Montenegro were the result of a favorable business environment. “As a banker, I see a very good business environment in Montenegro which, with correct risk assessments, is the basis for our good business results here,” Chief Executive Officer of Societe Generale for Europe Gianluca Soma noted.

Praising the Government’s fiscal consolidation measures, Societe Generale’s Chief Executive Officer for Europe said that such a responsible attitude towards public finances promises the prosperity of the country in the long run. “Montenegro as a state has a chance for good progress. In Montenegro, we see long-term measures that make us happy. Therefore, I congratulate you on your courage and consistency,” Mr. Gianluca Soma said.

The Prime Minister thanked Societe Generale Group for advisory support to the Government of Montenegro and state-owned companies.

Chief Executive Officer of Societe Generale Bank Montenegro Miroslav Hiršl and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Societe Generale Bank Montenegro Milorad Katnić were also a part of the delegation.
