Press conference following Cabinet session

At today's session, the Montenegrin Cabinet adopted the document "Assessment of the impact on heritage for the natural and cultural-historical area of Kotor".

Director General of the Directorate for Cultural Heritage at the Ministry of Culture Aleksandar Dajković informed the public at the press conference with the content of the Document. As he pointed out, it was prepared by the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Montenegro, with the cooperation of foreign ICOMOS experts and revised by the UNESCO experts. The processor was tasked to review and coordinate all planning instruments to establish a clear framework for planning and promoting sustainable, compatible forms of development.

Secretary of the Ministry of European Affairs Miodrag Radović presented two important financing agreements related to bilateral cross-border cooperation programs with Albania and Kosovo, as well as the Agreement on Consent between the Republic of Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro on the implementation of the Interreg IPA Cross-Border Cooperation Program for Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro for the period 2014-2020.

The financing agreement between the European Commission, the Government of Montenegro and Albania within the IPA II, EUR 13.8 million will be available to Montenegro and Albania for the seven-year period, including national co-financing. The program in Montenegro comprises 12 municipalities.

The signing of this financing agreement will enable the realisation of activities aimed at improving the socio-economic situation in eligible areas through strengthening cooperation and joint initiatives in the following priority sectors: employment, labour mobility and social and cultural inclusion on both sides of the border, environmental protection , as well as the promotion of tourism, cultural and natural heritage of mutual interest for the citizens of Montenegro and Albania, Secretary Radović said.

The total value of the program envisaged by the Financing Agreement between the European Commission, the Government of Montenegro and the Republic of Kosovo under the IPA II for a seven-year period is EUR 9.7 million, including national co-financing, and it also includes 12 municipalities from Montenegro.

The Agreement on Consent between the Republic of Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro on the implementation of the Interreg IPA Cross-Border Cooperation Program for Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro for the period 2014-2020 covers ten Montenegrin municipalities, while EUR 67 million will be available to all three countries, including national co-financing.
